Hello everyone, my name is Michelle Ma and I graduated from Arizona State University this May with the class of 2022. I am a also first-generation college student! Thankfully, when I decided to attend ASU after high school, I was awarded a full-ride scholarship through applications and merit, so make sure that you are putting in the work because it really makes a difference.
I double majored in Business Management and Marketing with a Business Data Analytics certificate from the W. P. Carey School of Business. I chose these majors because I love working with people and I am able to apply my degrees to different industries and areas because it is pretty broad.
One of my favorite college memories was meeting amazing people from my business professional fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. So many great moments during my involvement with them and excellent personal development opportunities were presented to me.
As for my current career plans, I will begin my job as a Specialty Sales Executive Lead for Target. I am basically working in Retail Management.
Lastly, some advice I have for you, and I cannot stress this enough is to STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE. I know it is scary to do it. However, remember that all first-year students are probably feeling the same way that you do too. They all want to make new friends so be the one who starts the conversation. You really never know unless you try something. Oh and one last thing, remember to take your time in college, don’t rush through it. It goes by faster than you think, but it is truly one of the best times of your life and I am grateful for all the memories that I have created at ASU!
